In this paper we discuss the role of todays and future embedded digital processing technology in multi-mission SAR payloads for long endurance surveillance or tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Based on this discussion we present an advanced architectural concept for advanced SAR processing applications as integrated part of such a multi-mode sensor payload.
