Abstract:
The high resolution wide swath (HRWS) SAR has a novel instrument architecture which overcomes the conflict between the requirements for high along track resolution and wide swath-width in conventional SAR. The concept encompasses digital beamforming elements (scan-on-receive in elevation) and multiple phase centers in along track direction, thus allowing for a low PRF and wide swaths. The paper presents investigations on the feasibility of HRWS by breadboarding of critical technology items in the frame of a study for the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
