Abstract:
In this paper we present a novel technique to obtain an accurate estimation of the Azimuth Antenna Pattern (AAP) over a very wide angle (several footprints), by making use of the point scatterers available in SAR images. The technique selects those targets which are less affected by alias and have an isotropic radiation pattern. The targets’ responses are processed over a wide Doppler Band (3 to 5 times the PRF) with a SPOTLIGHT technique and the unfolded spectra are averaged using a frequency varying weighting. The averaging can be incoherent or coherent. In the latter case a fine phase alignment is performed before spectra averaging. Results achieved by use of ENVISAT-ASAR images are shown.
