              Abstract:
We assess the Faraday rotation which may be tolerated in spaceborne synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) when residual cross-talk and channel imbalance are present. Results are obtained via purely theoretical analysis, numerical calculations for different scatterer types, and assessment of airborne-SAR data corrupted by introducing Faraday rotation, cross-talk and channel imbalance. Implications for future spaceborne missions at 1 – 2 GHz are discussed.
