Abstract:
This communication deals with the bistatic study of the scattering by a forest area at P-band using a coherent scattering model. The extension of this monostatic simulating tool to bistatic application is first developed. However, there are no full-polarimetric and bistatic radar data to compare with the simulated scattered fields. Hence, as a first test, we propose to study the variation of the bistatic scattering coefficient, when evolving from the backscattering to the specular configuration. Besides, imaging construction is detailed and a bistatic image is simulated. Finally, we consider the problem of the definition and the meaning of the usual monostatic polarimetric parameters when extended to bistatic configurations. Indeed, studies have been conducted in the case of artificial targets, but theory on the bistatic polarimetric response of random media is still in its early stages.
