Abstract:
At the Delft University of Technology, an X-band airborne FMCW SAR demonstrator system has been designed and developed. The combination of Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technology and Synthetic Aperture Technique (SAR) has led to a compact, low power consuming imaging system with high resolution. The system has been extensively tested with laboratory, ground based measurements and finally during a flight test campaign organized in the last part of 2005. Thanks to the special algorithms developed at the TU Delft, FMCW SAR images with a resolution up to 30 cm were produced. The paper reports on the front-end implementation and the flight test results.
