Abstract:
The paper presents the concept of a space borne continues wave noise synthetic aperture radar and highlights its potentials and limitations. The noise SAR is free from limitation caused by the periodicity of transmitted waveform ambiguity function, and therefore this technology can be used in the future space missions to create the high resolution SAR images. The paper presents also the main limitation of noise SAR technology – masking the weak echoes by strong dominant ones and the adaptive algorithm for improving SAR image quality bay removing dominant echoes. The image formation algorithm has been verified using the simulated data produced by Raw Radar Data Simulator.
