Abstract:
A fundamental constraint on designing space-borne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems is the contradiction between swath width and azimuth resolution. This constraint can be alleviated by adapting Multiple Phase Centers Multiple Azimuth Beams (MPCMAB) technique. In this paper, azimuth phase errors introduced by MPCMAB are analyzed, and some formulas for estimating azimuth phase errors are presented. The approach of phase correction is provided. In addition, the radar equation used to MPCMAB SAR systems is derived in this paper.
