The crucial aspect for Non-Cooperative Target Recognition (NCTR) is to exploit the information content of the backscattered radar signature from objects as much as possible. The incidence of cross-range resolution of 2-D imageries on the target classification capabilities is examined using three different High Range Resolution (HRR) data processing approaches. Since in a real classification problem it may be found difficult to form a focused image of moving objects when long observation times are involved, alternative ways of processing the available information are discussed as well as their impact on the probability of correct classification.
