Abstract:
Due to the increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition applications, the interest in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems is growing. In order to facilitate the processing of the enormous amount of SAR data on the ground, automatic procedures are indispensable. Therefore, at TNO a study was initiated to investigate the role for SAR imagery in automatic target classification for ground surveillance applications. The aim of this study is to develop and set up an operational demonstrator of an automated target classification chain.
