Abstract:
The evolution of wireless network technologies introduces a composite radio environment with advanced characteristics such as service coverage ubiquity and optimized connectivity. The heterogeneous B3G environment creates the need for a Service Platform so as to promote the capabilities of the underlying infrastructure, hiding the complexity from users and developers. This can be achieved by enabling dynamic service and network discovery through the use of the emerging technology of Web Services. This paper presents the requirements, architecture and functionality of such a Service Platform, as well as its operation within a composite radio environment.
