We propose a channel aware resource allocation algorithm for HSDPA that receives higher overall weighted throughput than the popular proportional fair scheduler, while following the same fairness scheme. Our algorithm comhines features of the proportional fair algorithm with a recent optimisation algorithm for the randombed knapsack problem. We demonstrate the high potential of the proposed algorithm in a simulation environment.
