Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to present a packet scheduling algorithm for a Multi-Carrier CDMA based system for the cellular broadband component of Beyond Third Generation systems based on cross-layer design philosophy. The assigned priority in scheduling users is based on the weighted combination of parameters related to the application QoS and the user channel quality. The scheduler performance is evaluated in the downlink in terms of the service throughput that satisfies the QoS constraints. The simulation results have shown that the weighted priority scheduler can provide the flexibility to provide preferential treatment to packets according to their QoS requirements. Thus representing a potential candidate solution for dynamic resource allocation in a heterogeneous service environment anticipated for B3G systems.
