Abstract:
We propose and demonstrate a new method of coding for quantum key distribution using a commercial dual-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator. This method allows the user to switch between two coding modes merely by changing the driving sequence of the modulator. We obtained error rates (0.7%) sufficiently low for practical use.
