Security in wireless sensor networks is still an open reserach topic. In this paper we give an overview of the discussion of security in sensor networks today. First, we explain the vision of security in wireless sensor networks. Second, we outline special attacks in sensor networks. Third, we explain security properties for sensor networks. Based on that introduction, security mechanisms for sensor nodes with only very limited technical resources are described. At the end of the paper an outline of missing work in secure sensor networks research is given.
