Abstract:
During the last years, the technological reseach emphasis has been shifted to solve problems that address the aging society. Under the title IDEAAL (Integrated Development Environment for Ambient Assisted Living applications) OFFIS works with different partners from other disciplines (medicine, geriatry, gerontology, psychology) on the improvement of the situation for elderly people in there own household by research and development of suitable "unobtrusive" information and communication technologies (ICT). In a show-room OFFIS is testing and developing techniques for elderly people which includes that the room can be controlled over the internet by a modified Quake 3 engine that displays the state of the room and gives the user the possibility to control devices. A future goal will be to integrate the communication between random KNX devices and the 3D visualization in a convenient way and also including information, like the position of every person and the direction they are looking to, into the 3D simulation.
