Abstract:
Nowadays simulation becomes more and more important. Not only hardware design flows but also small simulations cause huge amounts of data. Especially in SystemC [4] simulations it is possible to trace each kind of information. Usually this information is far too complex to be represented in regular waveforms. Therefore, appropriate methods have to be found to deal with that information. This paper describes the special needs of an appropriate analysis of complex simulation data. It also gives several ideas to extract, process and visualize those data adequately. The provided interactive and generic analysis of simulation data supports the HW-designer to identify missed assumptions and to spot bottlenecks efficiently. So the designer will be able to optimize the entire system.
