Abstract:
This paper carries out thorough investigation into the emerging Chinese offshore wind development. References have been made to international experiences (UK in particular) and the previous experiences from on-shore wind development in China to understand the trend and the future of the Chinese offshore wind sector. It summarized that the Chinese offshore wind development has technical and economical difficulties to take off. However, it is certain that the offshore wind will be essential part of Chinese governmental strategy to meet its 2015 and 2020 renewable targets. The paper further points out that the potential of delivering more than 2000MW offshore (including Intertidal wind) by 2015.
