Abstract:
As renewable energy power output is variable and intermittent, an effective means of storing energy while it is abundant is essential for facilitating an increase in renewable generation and a low carbon future. One approach is to incorporate Electrical Thermal Storage (ETS) into the distribution network at the residential level as a responsive demand. This paper proposes a methodology for determining the optimal integration of ETS devices into the distribution network and uses a multiple objective, evolutionary algorithm approach for the optimisation of the size and location of the devices.
