Abstract:
A new continuous-conductor holder for the measurement of the shielding effectiveness of planar thin films has been realized, with a design value of about 5 GHz as cut-off frequency for the propagation of a TEM mode only. Preliminary measurements of the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) from 0.1 to 300 MHz have been done. A 2D numerical analysis of the holder has been performed up to 5 GHz, and the results are compared with the reported VSWR experimental data. A parametric analysis, with reference to the terminations of the holder central conductor at the connectors, has been performed in order to optimize the design of the holder. A solution with VSWR values lower than 1.15 up to 5 GHz has been identified.
