Abstract:
State estimation is a critical component in the functioning of a power system. The addition of phasor measurement units (PMUs) to a power system will result in the estimation process become faster and more accurate. However, the transition period between a nonlinear and linear state estimator must be tackled to ensure a smooth transition. This paper models and tests a hybrid state estimator on a IEEE 14 bus system. The results indicate that the addition of one PMU improve the voltage magnitude and voltage phasor measurements in the system.
