Abstract:
Orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems are currently subject to considerable attention as a potential candidate for future generation cellular systems. To achieve proportional fairness among users while improving user satisfaction, we propose a novel optimization approach for packet scheduling in OFDMA-based cellular systems whereby the scheduler is designed not only based on the required rate bandwidth and fairness across users, but also based on optimization of the utilization performance over all the subbands. Moreover, our solution has been proposed for all the users in the downlink of a single-cell and multi-cell OFDMA system. Then, according to the solution obtained, a heuristic scheduling algorithm for practical use is proposed. Simulation results show that our algorithm can achieve 85% of the optimal solution.
