Abstract:
Adaptive modulation is an efficient approach to combat the effect of deep fades in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with time-varying multipath channels. However, the receiver has to know the applied modulation scheme to perform the demodulation. Blind detection of the modulation scheme eliminates the need of a signaling overhead. In this contribution, a simplified maximum a priori based automatic modulation classification algorithm is analyzed. Simulations indicate that via efficient utilizations of boundary conditions and channel properties a good classification performance can already be achieved for a small number of observed symbols.
