This paper presents a new approach to adapt classic linear current control design to permanent magnet synchronous machines with saturation characteristics. All needed parameters for the current controller are online calculated from stationary machine measurements. The additional effort compared to control of linear machines is kept as low as possible in order to meet useroriented requirements. The developed current control scheme is verified by simulation as well as by experimental results.
