Two concepts and implementations of DC solid state circuit breakers based on MOSFETs are introduced. One approach uses active current limiting with linear drive and guidelines for device selection are given. The other approach emulates thermal magnetic circuit breaker behavior and differentiation between a capacitive load and a short circuit.
