Abstract:
A comparison of three different inverter topologies (2-level voltage source inverter, NPC and T-Type inverter) for the main inverter in an electric vehicle is presented. The topologies designed for a 20 kW synchronous machine are investigated theoretically and by simulation. Their performance is evaluated and analysed for different power output levels and varying DC input voltage levels. The power loss distribution is analysed for inverter and rectifier operation.
