Identifying EMI sources in power switch commutation

Electromagnetic interference caused by the commutation of power switches is often not completely understood. In this paper, a mathematical model is introduced which allow to correlate the commutation parameters to the generated EMI spectra. The model is quite generic, in that it can be easily adapted to power mosfets and IGBT transistors. The effect of gate network and device's parameters is analised and some solutions are suggested to alleviate the EMI phenomena.
