Abstract:
This paper compares two models, which describe the material behavior and the soft magnetic losses of soft magnetic composites. Under the assumption of a constant energy density per cycle and thus a high cutoff - frequency of eddy currents due to the high electrical volume resistivity of the soft magnetic composites, the eddy current losses are negligible. The inverse Jiles/Atherton - model and the extended Sulivan - model are used and compared for the modeling and calculation of the ferromagnetic losses. Because of the high internal shear of such materials, high magnetization current and high apparent power is required for the magnetization. A measuring procedure with which the device under test can also be magnetized up to high flux densities at high frequency is introduced. Measurement results and calculation results are compared with each other.
