Abstract:
Microstrip antennas have been developed for various applications such as broadband High speed wireless communication systems and automotive radar systems. They are more advantageous than other millimeter-wave antennas at the viewpoints of low profile and low cost. As the target radar cross section (RCS) continuously decreases, the need for high gain radar increases. One approach to high gain is to use distributed subarray antennas (DSAs), because of limited surface available on many radar platforms. In this paper, the design and analysis of smart distributed subarray antennas has been introduced and analyzed. The analysis and design are done by a commercial software. The good agreement between the theoretical expectation and the simulation results is observed. Finally, the proposed optimum distributed subarray microstrip antenna design structure has been fabricated and the measured Sparameters of the proposed structure can be analyzed with network analyzer and compared with simulation results to demonstrate the excellent performance and meet the requirements for multifunction applications.
