Abstract:
Channel estimation for multicarrier modulations often requires interpolation to recover the complete channel response. This paper investigates a new method adapted to fragmented spectrum usage where an efficient interpolation scheme for the complete spectrum including the edges is critical. The interpolation is performed in the frequency domain by introducing different interpolation filters on the edges. A theoretical problem description helps to derive a set of key optimization equations used for filter construction. The potential gain of this new method is then simulated for Filterbank Multicarrier (FBMC) modulations. Up to 7dB estimation improvement is observed on state-of-the-art interpolation techniques.
