Abstract:
This paper proposes the theoretical derivation method of the bit error rate (BER) performance for uplink Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) employing space diversity reception under nonlinear fading channels. The proposed method provides the simple series form formula which takes into account the space diversity benefit as well as two different subcarrier allocation methods such as localized FDMA (LFDMA) and interleaved FDMA (IFDMA). Hence, the proposed formula makes it possible to easily confirm the performance difference between LFDMA and IFDMA while computer simulations require high computational complexity. The validity of the proposed formula is confirmed by the agreement with the computer simulation results under various kinds of system parameters such as the subcarrier allocation methods, the number of MSs, the number of antennas, and the input back-off(IBO).
