Abstract:
This paper presents the implementation and evaluation of a Q-learning based slotted ALOHA protocol (ALOHAQ) for multi-hop wireless sensor networks. Simulation results indicate that hidden nodes have a significant impact on performance of ALOHA-Q. This issue is investigated analytically and a distinctive slot swapping technique is introduced. Its effectiveness is examined through simulation and results show that ALOHA-Q can achieve its best performance despite of the effect of the hidden nodes.
