Abstract:
This paper proposes a novel adaptive transmission scheme based on the uniform channel decomposition (UCD)-based that enables multiuser MIMO-OFDM gains to be realized while remaining fully compliant with the latest IEEE 802.11ac draft. In particular, the proposed technique takes into account the availability of a finite modulation and coding set and the restrictions concerning the transmission mode selection defined in IEEE 802.11ac. Users are selected using a proportionally fair scheduling algorithm and the UCD is adaptively optimized to allocate a number of per-user subchannels maximizing the system throughput. Simulation results in the context of IEEE 802.11ac confirm the advantage of the UCD approach when compared to the conventional singular value decomposition (SVD)-based approach.
