Abstract:
This paper proposes a technique for determining harmonic contributions of multiple harmonic sources using only one index that is based on apparent power. It determines the harmonic apparent power contributions of the different harmonic sources to the net harmonic apparent power recorded at their common connection point. A technique for assigning penalty charges for harmonics produced is also presented. The proposed technique is compared with the widely used voltage or current harmonic contribution index. Simulation and practical results are presented to support the proposed technique.
