Abstract:
In the recent past, multilevel inverters (MLI) have drawn a considerable interest in power industry. It is known that, a multilevel inverter structure affords an easy way of developing high alternating voltage power sources compared to conventional methods. This is so, to an extent, due to the way in which device voltage stresses are controlled in the structure. Also, the number of voltage levels in the inverter could be increased without having to enhance the ratings of individual components. Besides these, minimized harmonic contents and electromagnetic interference are advantageous offshoots. This paper proposes a modified version of a full bridge approach with bi-directional switching interconnections.
