Abstract:
The paper describes novel topology of the adjustable speed generation system. The new system consists of permanent magnet generator, AC boost rectifier and inverter producing sinusoidal three phase voltage. The main advantage of the novel topology is 5 wires output including three phase wires, neutral and earth wire. The neutral wire is connected to neutral point of star connected permanent magnet generator windings and to neutral wire of the boost rectifier. The AC output sinusoidal voltage is produced by three level DC-AC converter in reference to neutral potential made by connecting capacitors of the LC output filter with the capacitors connected to the rectifier neutral point. Such a topology provides stiff neutral potential which does not depend on load or even short circuit event. The novel rectifier produces two symmetrical voltages and is especially advantageous in application of the threelevel output inverter and in case of high frequency supply from permanent magnet generator.
