Abstract:
Software defined power ICs are today mainly seen in high performance SMPS applications. For the medium to low power AC/DC applications they are often considered oversized and usually need additional external peripheral components like high-voltage driver ICs, signal pre-processing, LDOs or a high voltage startup cell. The innovation described in this paper is now to provide a core based HW architecture that supports the right flexibility for system innovations and reduction of the necessary external amount of components to the possible minimum by means of a specific partitioning for the HW and FW functions.
