Abstract:
Maintaining high power efficiency across entire load range for an off-line supply system consisting of PFC- and DC/DC converter is a challenge. This is because the power efficiency behaviours of PFC- and DC/DC converters are non-linear functions of their output load level. Intelligent adjustment of intermediate bus voltage level (IBV) can help increasing power efficiency of both PFC- and DC/DC converters for entire load range. This paper shows a smart system consisting of an AC/DC PFC- and DC/DC converter providing 230Vac to 12Vdc conversion with power efficiency autonomous self-tuning algorithm. The key approaches for optimum efficiency is dynamically optimization of intermediate bus voltage.
