Abstract:
Doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) are commonly used in wind energy turbines. The influence of grid faults on the generator and the drive train is not very well understood. This paper examines the behaviour of the DFIG in case of grid faults, the effects of these grid faults on the generator–converter system of a wind turbine and presents a possible control strategy to minimize these effects.
