Abstract:
New computationally efficient algorithm is proposed for pairwise recognition of linear digital modulation constellations. Decision rule is based on circular harmonic function with only two terms: angle-independent term and one circular harmonic, the number of harmonic being defined by rotational symmetry of both constellations. Optimization procedure for calculation of weighting functions is presented. Computer simulations confirmed applicability of the proposed method for distinguishing between pairs of QAM constellations. It is also shown that the proposed method can be used to recognize a modulation format from a set of more than two constellations through a series of pairwise decisions.
