Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to conduct the use of highly integrated automotive System-on-a-Chips (SoC) in the avionics area, which shall support the development of small, lightweight and energy efficient Flight Control Computers (FCC) for future Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) projects. This includes the usage of additional safety mechanisms like redundancy in combination with dissimilarity. Therefore a special FCC internal network is required for managing redundancy and synchronization between all FCC nodes. This network shall be based on the interfaces already provided by automotive SoCs like SPI and FlexRay. A focus is set on the use multi-core SoCs, as this is the recent trend where a lot of innovation can be expected.
