Abstract:
The increasing complexity in technical systems is often countered by means of self-organisation. As a result, design-time decisions are transferred to runtime and into the responsibilities of systems themselves. In order to allow for such a process, self-organisation must be measurable as basis for comparing different concepts. In this work, we apply our recently developed technique to estimate self-organisation at runtime to an application scenario from the smart camera domain. We show how the metric performs in different situations and quantify the degree of self-organisation within the system in different stages of the process, and as a result of disturbances.
