Abstract:
The highest efficiency as 97.5% could be obtained on the 300W boost converter which was operated at 1MHz switching and discontinuous mode. It consisted of GaN HEMT, SiC SBT and the new Fe-based glassy alloy called “LiqualloyTM” inductor. Furthermore, the temperature raise of inductor part was lower than that of the other conventional inductors which were evaluated in this work. These excellent results are based on both low core loss and high saturation flux density of the LiqualloyTM inductor. This is suitable for the power converting efficiency improvement even under higher frequency and large ripple current operation.
