Abstract:
Based on our EMC lab experience we look into the reason why ferrite common mode chokes outperform nanocristalline counterparts in many practical applications. For a fair comparison, designs with same impedance at 150 kHz crucial frequency have been investigated. At the expense of a 30% larger size the ferrite common mode chokes gain better EMI noise reduction for common mode and differential mode noise sources.
