Abstract:
This paper presents the sensorless control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor operating at high speed (125000rpm). The motor drives a compressor for the air supply of a fuel cell cathode in a car. The control algorithm must fulfill both starting and dynamic performance, which are constrained by the particular application. For the sensorless control an algorithm based on the extended Kalman filter has been adopted. The system has been designed and implemented on two different prototypes.
