Abstract:
Electromobility cannot be stopped. As battery technology improves year after year more and more electric cars will take to the streets. At the same time, as energy sources such as batteries or fuel cells improve, power electronics also will need to improve to most efficiently convert energy from its source to its output, example given to the wheels, board electronics, heating and cooling instruments etc. Because the use of electronics in an automobile is also increasing with every new model, inverters and converters will need to handle higher currents, higher voltages, higher self-induced temperatures and at the same time must be smaller and lighter weight to improve performance and increase the drivers overall driving experience and satisfaction. AB Mikroelektronik part of the TT Electronics plc, has developed a new power module technology, Power Stack, that is easily customizable and is aimed at solving the challenges that the electromobility future poses. The Power Stack is a solid solution for automotive applications due to the many thermal, electrical and footprint advantages as well as maintaining the performance during standard automotive environmental testing such as thermal cycling, humidity, and power cycling described in the LV 324.
