Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to present versatile and modular power electronics architecture which provides a tool to implement and evaluate any power conversion topology, semiconductor devices or Power Integrated Modules (PIMs). The key goal is to design a dedicated bench test setup that emulates the real conditions such as current and voltage levels, cos (φ), switching frequency etc. For this purpose, vector control technique has been chosen and developed. The adopted platform includes recuperation of energy so no extra expensive equipment such as power supply or power loads are needed. In addition, the implemented system avoids problems with huge heat dissipation. At the same time the system makes it possible to measure precise relative power loss.
