Abstract:
Atherm has been developing Heat Pipes systems for railway applications since 1988 and recently developed a "cold wall" heat pipe system in collaboration with a final customer producing locomotives. This "cold wall" is a speed motion cooling system based on a Heat Pipes assembly for railway application, aiming at extracting more than 6kW from assembled IGBTs and able to work from -40deg C, both in forced and natural convection, with the same performances.
