Abstract:
Efficiency is one of the most important factors for the power supply system. In addition, size and weight are important factors for the onboard railway applications. On the other hand, silicon carbide (SiC), which is characterized by its “low-loss” and “high temperature operation” features, has recently started being used in large power electronics equipment. The latest version of high power Full SiC modules consists of SiC MOSFET and SiC Schottky Barrier Diode (SBD). Authors developed compact auxiliary power supply (APS) for the railway vehicle that has more than 97% efficiency using new 1.2kV SiC power device that includes two features mentioned above.
