Abstract:
An essential part of any digitally controlled motor drive is phase current feedback. The quality of the measurement directly relates to system parameters such as torque ripple and torque settling time. While there is strong correlation between system performance and phase current measurement, it is difficult to translate into hard requirements to the feedback system. From a system point of view, this paper discusses how to design a feedback system optimized for motor control. Error sources are identified and mitigation effects are discussed.
